Quickie...

I was reading the Yarn Harlot blog the other day, laughing my ass off at her story about this gorgeous baby sweater she's become obsessed with. This woman is amazing. She's already made 3 of these adorable little sweaters. Anyway, I like all things small and babies and beautiful so I left a quick comment - 'Where can I get one?!' (or something short and smart alecky like that) and SHE ANSWERED ME!! I was floored when I opened my e-mail and there along with my all important Harry Potter Wizard News e-mail and the even more important Viagra and Diet pills e-mails, there was a message from the Great One herself. Now I know she's just a person just like you and me with a family and a life and problems just like the rest of us, but she's THE YARN HARLOT and she gets tons of comments on her blog. For her to actually answer me was very nice. She told me I could probably get in touch with the shop directly and they'd be able to help me. Once I recover from the excitement, and get my G-D computer in running order I will. I'm also going to thank her for responding to me so quickly.

I'm at work right now (shhhhhh!!) and this is the only photo of something knitty that I have at the moment. It's called a Grabbit. It's a blanket you knit from the center on out and can be gathered up in such a way that you can use it to carry things in. It's funny how when I first got the pattern a couple of years ago, I just couldn't make sense of it and in frustration put it away. It's always stuck in the back of my mind though. For my birthday this year, a friend of mine gave me a TON of yarn. One happened to be this particular skein that she had Kool-Aide dyed. I dug out the pattern and started it and promptly got bored because, well, all you're doing really is knitting in the round and increasing in certain areas to make it either octagonal or square. Funny how what was so confusing and difficult is now pretty mundane. It's really a great blanket though and I do really have every intention of finishing it sometime soon...sometime within the year...okay, okay, sometime this century...

I loved the post about the sweater too and googled it - tulips baby sweater kit - and got a number of places carrying it as a pattern and a kit. If you want I can bring you the info Thursday.
