My Weekend

I just love this place. I wish I could live there all the time. It's just so peaceful.

We left early Friday morning and got there at about 11:30 or so. When we got there, we were the only campers there. By 5pm there were a few more campers but the place was not filled to capacity at all.
After dinner we took a walk down to the beach. I wanted to take pictures, mom wanted to fish.
Note to self: Must remember - Mother likes to catch the fish...

But not take them off the hook. She caught 2 Bass and 1 Pickerel. I refused to unhook the Pickerel so dad did..and got a huge cut on his thumb.

(This is me unhooking Bass #2)
We ended up leaving Saturday afternoon. The weather was going to turn bad and we did, in fact get caught in a horrible downpour. Before we left though, we went to a really nice nursery. Mom picked up a few flowers.
It was a nice trip cut much too short. I'm always so sad when I leave. It's not that I don't love my home, because I do. It's just nice to be somewhere else sometimes.

More Rudd Pond

Can you tell how much I love this place? I drove 2 1/2 hours twice in one week.
It really is beautiful. I am looking forward to the fall.

Photographic proof of my recent travels & reason for non-blogging!

Sanibel Island, FL August 10, 07 to August, 18, 2007

Rudd Pond State Park, Millerton NY August 24, 2007 to August 26, 2007

I think it was hotter up at Rudd Pond than it ever was the whole time we were in Florida. I was covered in a sheen of sweat from the moment I got there till the time I left. Will I go again next year....OH YEAH! I love that place. We went there just about every weekend growing up. I have fond memories from back then, and I am still meeting new people now. Hopefully I'll get up there in the fall for a day trip. We shall have to see how that works out though.

Okay, I think things should be slowing down a bit now and I'll be blogging and spending more time on the computer. I think the next thing I have coming up is the Long Island Knitting Guild Day of Learning. I'm not sure if I'm going to go though. I have to decide soon though. Then after that is (drum roll please...) RHINEBECK SHEEP AND WOOL FESTIVAL!! WOOHOO!! A bunch of us are going up and spending the night in various hotels, etc. Boy, Rhinebeck and Kingston will never be the same! I'll be talking more about this trip and our plans as they are made.

TTFA!!

Plans for the future

Hey all! Well, I think I'm finally over my jet lag. It didn't help that I was nearing "That Time". It explains the over exhaustion the last few days. So, in my infinite wisdom I decided before leaving for Florida that this weekend would be a good time to go camping. I booked two sites (one for me and one for mom & dad) and I am praying the weather holds out till Sunday! Right now it's very beautiful and I am compulsively checking the weather forecast. I don't care what it does after I set up the tent or after, but in between I would appreciate it if it would NOT rain. My car is pretty much packed. All I have to do is get some ice and pack up the cooler and we'll be on our way. I'm working through lunch so I can leave at 4. I'm trying to get a slight head start on what's about a 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive. Ahh! I am looking so forward to this! Sounds strange doesn't it? Well, we go 'civilized' camping. There are showers with hot & cold running water, electricity for our hairdryers and it's mostly platformed sites. There are a few ground sites, but I hate setting my tent up on the ground. I'm always on an incline and end up sliding around. Anyway, that's it in a nutshell. I'm bringing up a book and some knitting. I don't know how much of either I am going to do. I mean, really, we're only going to be there one full day. I promise to post new photos of Florida soon. Maybe after Labor Day weekend.
Have a good weekend everbody!! :)
